SHIAWASSEE COUNTY
SHERIFF ’S DEPARTMENT
Starting in January of 2005, Shiawassee County
has implemented new policies and fees for all kennels throughout the county.
Private kennels (5-10 dogs) will now be $10, with a $30
per year kennel inspection fee.
Commercial kennels (11-25 dogs) will be $25, with a $50
per year kennel inspection fee.
Each kennel throughout the county must have an officer
respond to the kennel to conduct a kennel inspection prior to obtaining any
kennel license. The officer will look at
Rabies certificates on each kenneled dog and will be inspecting the
kennel. The officer will issue a slip to
the private or commercial kennel for compliance, which then can be taken to the
Shiawassee County Treasurer to obtain the 2005 private or commercial kennel
license and to pay the inspection fee.
I, Animal Control Officer Byles look forward to
serving you throughout 2005. If you have
any questions, please feel free to contact me at 989-743-2406.
Sincerely,
Animal Control Officer Byles
Sheriff Jon Wilson
There
were also instructions to veterinarians that they could no longer sell more
than 4 licenses per address. Those
people would have to contact animal control.
WRONG WRONG WRONG AND VIOLATIONS OF THE DOG LAW OF 1919!
Veterinarians shouldn't be selling dog licenses in the first place. The law says that is the treasurer's job, assisted by township treasurers and city clerks. Now they have them acting as enforcement officers.
The treasurer may only require an 'inspection slip' for a new kennel and then only if the county has adopted the provisions of the act that added the inspection to the dog law. They didn't, in which case NO inspection is ever required.
WRONG WRONG WRONG AND VIOLATIONS OF THE DOG LAW OF 1919!
Damn bunch of OUTLAWS!!!!!!!!!
